How Therapy Works

A strategic, efficient approach to meaningful change

My Therapeutic Approach

First session: We map your goals and history, then decide what success looks like together. My approach is evidence-based (incorporating CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic methods), plus practical coaching when useful. I believe in brief, focused therapy that respects your time while delivering meaningful results.

Evidence-Based Methods

Drawing from CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic approaches, tailored to your needs.

70-Minute Sessions

Weekly or biweekly extended sessions for deeper exploration and progress.

Flexible Duration

Short-term or longer-term based on your goals - most issues resolve in weeks or months.

Getting Started: Two Paths

Option 1: Direct Therapy

Best for: Those who know what they want to work on

  • Begin with regular 70-minute therapy sessions
  • $225 per session
  • Focus immediately on your presenting concerns
  • Flexible scheduling based on your needs

Option 2: Comprehensive Assessment

Best for: Those seeking deeper understanding or complex issues

  • Three-session assessment process
  • Total cost: $1,425 (includes MCMI-IV psychological test)
  • Provides thorough understanding of your situation
  • Option to continue with regular therapy afterward

The Comprehensive Assessment Process

For those who choose the assessment option, here's what to expect:

1

Initial Consultation (70 minutes)

We'll discuss your situation informally, establishing rapport and identifying your primary concerns. This session helps us determine if we're a good therapeutic fit and plan for the comprehensive assessment if appropriate.

2

Life Story & Testing (2-3 hours)

In this extended session, you'll tell your life story through a structured conversation. The session is videotaped for later review, allowing me to identify patterns and themes. We'll also administer the MCMI-IV psychological test to provide objective personality and clinical data.

3

Feedback & Insights (70 minutes)

I'll present a comprehensive theory about your circumstances, history, and personality, along with specific observations and actionable suggestions. This session provides deep insights and clear recommendations for moving forward.

After the Assessment

Following the three-session assessment, you have complete freedom to:

  • Continue with regular therapy sessions
  • Take time to process the insights before deciding next steps
  • Conclude our work with the assessment findings
  • Use the insights for self-directed growth
